Cannonballers will begin their journey in Bilbao before carving through the beauty of Northern Spain and ascending into the peaks of the Pyrenees. The route winds through Pamplona, the mountain roads of Boltaña and the elegant French city of Pau, before arriving into the medieval grandeur of Carcassonne for a special two-night stay. From here, the adventure continues back into the high mountains toward Canfranc Estación, finishing on the Atlantic coast in the world-renowned food capital of San Sebastián. From breathtaking alpine-style passes to vibrant coastal cities, this road trip promises extraordinary moments and memories to last a lifetime.

Our European Tour begins as we roll out of Bilbao for a picturesque journey through the heart of Spain’s Basque Country, the drive to Pamplona offers a stunning blend of rugged mountains, charming medieval towns, and rich cultural heritage. This route takes you away from the coastal hustle and into the serene inland landscapes, perfect for a leisurely road trip before finishing in our first night of elegance in the historic 5 star haven, Gran Hotel la Perla overlooking Plaza Del Castillo.

Departing Pamplona we embark on a truly memorable and scenic drive to the charming town of Boltaña, the recommended route winds through the spectacular landscapes of the Spanish Pyrenees via the N-260 road, known for its unparalleled views and adventurous curves. Our free day allows us to take in the medieval town of Carcassonne, stroll the cobblestone streets, visit the Château Comtal or relax at the spa in the Hotel de la Cité, offering a full range of luxurious treatments. Alternatively our optional drive takes us on breathtaking journey to Perpignan, skipping the highway for the scenic route via the Gorges de Galamus, Cathar Castles, and vineyards, offering dramatic gorges, ancient ruins, charming villages, and stunning scenery, making it a perfect day trip.
⚲ Carcassonne | Canfranc Estación
We begin our journey returning into the Pyrenees and follow a mountain route to Spain, arriving at the extraordinary Canfranc Estación, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, a restored architectural landmark reimagined from the 1928 railway station nestled in the Aragonese Pyrenees. This hotel is a firm Cannonball favourite, and offers unparalleled access to stunning mountain landscapes, Michelin recognised dining and a state-of-the-art wellness spa for a truly unique & luxury 5 star experience.
⚲ Canfranc Estación | San Sebastián
The scenic drive from Canfranc to San Sebastián offers a stunning transition from Pyrenean mountains to Basque coast, crossing from Spain’s high country into lush green hills and seaside charm near San Sebastián, a stunning Spanish city famous for it’s world-class food scene especially pintxos. Our last night brings us to the timeless elegance of 5 star Hotel María Cristina, San Sebastián’s iconic Belle Époque palace offering historic grandeur, river views, luxurious rooms with modern comforts.
